Versifyer

A revolution in a genre with little hope.

Who is Versifyer?

Introduction to Versifyer:

Music Does Not Lie by Versifyer Awakening (ft. Justin Kuehm on guitar) by Versifyer

Versifyer (Jerry B. Hall II) was born in Kansas City Missouri in 1988. Raised in a small metro town he quickly learned that he did not “fit in”. Bullied, teased and humiliated, he decided to stick his thoughts to paper and let them out that way...after all, paper doesn't judge.

Thoughts turned to poems, poems to songs, songs to rap...this was the beginning of the revolution.

Versifyer started pouring everything about himself into a genre he knew nothing of. Raised on rock n' roll he was out-casted by even certain family members and friends. “Changed Ways” was written by Versifyer in 2002, and released in 2003 featuring vocals by himself and S.4.C, and mentoring from Lyrycyst. The track was underdeveloped and raw, however it showcased a premature talent, and an astounding heart. 500 copies were distributed before the track was rerecorded and remastered in 2005.

Along the way were tracks such as “My Genesis”, “Destiny”, “Refocused”, “Ready or Not” and many others. Soon word escalated of the artist and he was enveloped in the underground scene of Kansas City, where pressure and pain turned him against the industry.

Years later this one of a kind artist is a true poet and an awe striking musician, well known for his flawless complex rhyme scheme, and tongue twisting speed rap. He boldly declares his beliefs and passions through his music, lifting up and also offending many listeners, with one purpose: to rebuild the industry the way it was meant to be built, with diversity and love!

Now:

Songs such as "Awakening", "Demons", and "Wanna Be" are changing the face of rap. Versifyer is working toward a new album entitled "Fallen From Grace", which will take you, in detail, through the hardest times of his life. Being wrongly convicted of burglary, losing precious time with his first two children, trials with his faith and morals, and even the struggles he faces as an artist.

When I was younger, I never pictured myself making music. I always had the dream to become a musician but I didn;t think I would ever get to this point. Now I have my own studio, I am producing my own beats, and I am writing several songs a week! I don't desire fame; Maybe that's my downfall. All I know is that I am doing what I enjoy and I will continue to do so. I hope to have enough funds to tour soon. This new album is gonna be sick! Just wait! - Versifyer

The Vision

The vision behind this artist's music is to brign a new genre of hip hop out into the world. Not only by speaking truth and positivity, but by unfolding the industry. Rap doesn;t have to be all about sex and drugs, and it doesn't have to be a simple beat with only drums and a nice bassline. So the goal is two-fold.

  • Put a heart back into rap.
  • Show true musicianship in a genre where it lacks.
